BADgal by Benefit is Best, Baddest Mascara

It looks like black is the new black for Fall and Sephora is pimping its “best-selling” mascaras once again. But let’s be honest, BADgal by Benefit is really the only mascara one need own. Glossy, black as hell, and it doesn’t clump – the little black dress of makeup. What’s not to love?

Fedora Fatigue

I’m not sure what’s causing the rash of fedoras in NYC this summer, but it’s overwhelming and way beyond the saturation point. Can’t we move on to an understated boater? A chic cloche perhaps?

With all the Russian Cossack-inspired looks for Fall, I think I’ll go with something fur.

Hot or Not

So, this is entirely unrelated to chicks and lit, but New York Times Magazine’s ‘The Moment’ blog just featured an article on Chris Moukarbel, the artist currently showing at Art in General (where I’m interning). Check out the article and his fall 2008 In/Out list here. Apparently, J. Crew, makeup & writing are out- sucks to be me.

Re-reading the novel years later apparently soured the author on its content and merit. Waugh stated that“the book is infused with a kind of gluttony, for food and wine, for the splendours of the recent past, and for rhetorical and ornamental language which now, with a full stomach, I find distasteful”. Sounds like the makings of a great romance film, no?

Gossip Girl, alpha version

Your namesake television show will return to online streaming after the new season premieres September 1st. Apparently, taking it off the internet didn’t cause the intended spike in real-live viewers; instead, it increased bootleg streaming online. I was worrying about what I’d watch during my bouts of insomnia once I’m caught up on Arrested Development, glad that’s taken care of!

Thank god for digital media: Daily Intel Luvz Gossip Girl

“You can’t write a fashionable comedy about married girls who have two children and are approaching 40″ – truer words were ne’er spoken.
